Question: Q:

To whom it may concern,

I have an issue with Monterey 12.2.1 and Microsoft Remote Desktop on a MBP 14" M1 Pro.

No matter what I do I am not able to connect to any remote PC and I keep getting the error code: 0x204.

I've troubleshot enough and I am sure 99.9% that the problem is on my side, the issue is my Mac. With any other Mac I own I find no problem connecting with any remote PC via Microsoft Remote Desktop plus on the PC side permissions are allowed for any remote connection to be established.

The only solution I found online is to delete the temp folder or Microsoft Remote and Reboot. Needless to say, I did a bunch of times solving nothing.

What can I do? Is there by any mean any network security from Monterey I have to bypass? What else should I try?

Thank you.

MacBook Pro (2020 and later)

Are you using Remote Desktop v10.7.6 on Monterey? Is Remote Desktop enabled on the Windows side? There were users from Summer 2000 having this RDP error code issue when using Mojave 10.14.6, so I doubt but do not discount the fact that it may be a Monterey issue. Microsoft has now lumped their RDP (win and mac) user support under Windows Server located here.

Take a look at this site for potential solutions to the 0x204 issue. The usual caveat applies about not clicking any advert clutter.

I doubt there will be any immediate solution available to you with Monterey unless there is some mystical setting change with the Remote Desktop client that you haven't tried. The Monterey 12.3 (when it is released) update may magically fix this Remote Desktop issue, or that, and a future update to Microsoft's product may fix it. Or neither.
