I would say this is better if you're looking to upgrade the ram, ssd, screen

I got the one with the Ryzen 7 because the 9th and 10th gen i7's just weren't up to snuff.
I paid $439 for that with 8 gigs of Ram. The config on this one is at $530 before tax [about $570 after.] I can probably get 16 gigs of RAM for $50ish. That puts me at $489.

Given the basic math, I think that the Ryzen is still the better deal.

The ryzen is definitely the better bang for buck but I was willing to pay extra for the better screen and webcam alone

Sorry for noob question. I see lot of deals on laptop with similar specs ranging from ~$500-1500 with 15" screen, I7, 16GB, 256+ SSD, backlit keyboard and mostly are 10th generation processors.
I want to gift one to my high-schooler kid who have started to develop lot of interest in computer programming and he's also a beginner/intermediate gamer. He hate touchscreen so that's not in our wishlist, he is also not bothered about screen brightness [nits].
Based on above details, we would highly appreciate if you can suggest which is best deal? For that matter this deal looks pretty slick to me based on my knowledge.

Very similar to that deal earlier for the Ryzen 4700U HP. The price is almost the same when you factor in that this is 256GB for $499 and the other deal was 512gb for $548. This i7 and the Ryzen 4700u are pretty similar, I'd probably give the slight upper hand to the Ryzen.

When I try to change the networking to WiFi 6, the customization process fails and all options become required categories after getting deselected. I cannot customize after this error.
