Microsoft Teams was introduced in 2017 as a unified communication and collaboration platform that helps businesses and organizations achieve results. Microsoft leveraged the companys existing experience with Office software and created a unified interface between Teams, Office 365 and Skype for Business. However, as with all software, things dont always go as planned. If youre having trouble with Microsoft Teams, here are some of the most common problems you can fix.
People who have been using MS Teams for a while know that the application automatically logs in every time it starts up. However, this is not always the case. Sometimes it means that you dont have an Internet connection, although other applications work fine. Other times, there may be an error when you log in and restart the app. Users have reported that the app cant detect the actual problem and displays the following notification:

Restart the Microsoft Teams application.
To restart Teams in Windows 10, look for the Teams icon [the little purple two-person icon] in the taskbar in the lower-right corner of your screen. You may need to click the small arrow to enlarge the notification area. When the icon is found, right-click it and select Exit. On macOS, right-click the Teams icon in the Dock and select Exit. Now open the app again to see if it fixed your problem.
Check the status of the Microsoft Teams service
The Microsoft Teams app may crash or refuse to open when Microsoft services are down for maintenance. You can check the status of the service in the administration area of your Office 365 account.
- Launch the Office 365 Administration Center.
- Go to Service Status. Here you can see the status of the service and any actions taken to resolve the issue.
- Note that you may need administrative access to check the status of the service. If you do not have permission, contact your administrator.
- You can follow the Microsoft Office 365 status descriptor on Twitter to get the full service status.
- Service issues are automatically resolved within hours or 24 hours, and theres not much you can do about them.
Delete client credentials
- If you dont see any problems with the Microsoft Teams service in Administrator, delete the Microsoft Teams account information in Account Manager.
- Make sure that Microsoft Teams is closed.
- Press Windows Key + R to open Run.
- Enter the control and click OK.
- Access user accounts in the Control Panel.
- Click the Credentials Manager.
- Select the Windows Credentials tab on the right.
- Expand the Microsoft Office 365 / Teams section by clicking the drop-down list button.
- Click Delete.
- Click Yes to confirm the action.
- Close the control panel and restart Microsoft Teams.
- Enter your Office 365 username and password and log in. Check if the crash has been resolved.
Clear the MS Teams cache
- Right-click on the taskbar and select Task Manager from the list.
- In the Processes section, find Microsoft Teams, right-click and select End Task. This will end all running background processes related to MS Teams.
- Click Start, find and open File Explorer.
- Copy and paste the following location address into the address bar and press Enter. This will take you to a hidden folder called Cache, which contains the cache files for MS Teams.

- Select all files by pressing Ctrl + A on your keyboard at the same time, and permanently delete all files in the folder by pressing SHIFT + DELETE on your keyboard at the same time.
- Select Yes to confirm the deletion.
- Now repeat steps 3 to 6 one by one for the following addresses:

- % AppData% \ Microsoft \ Teams \ Application Cache \ Cache
- % AppData% \ Microsoft \ Teams \ gpucache

- % AppData% \ Microsoft \ Teams \ Local storage
- % AppData% \ Microsoft \ Teams \ tmp
- % LocalAppData% \ Google \ Chrome \ User Data \ Standard \ Cache
- % LocalAppData% \ Google Chrome \ User Data \ Standard \ Cookies
- % LocalAppData% \ Google \ Chrome \ User Data \ Standard \ Web Data
- Try to run MS Teams after deleting all the files. That should solve your problem.
