Asus laptop processor upgrade

Hi, I have an ASUS laptop that is currently supporting an intel core i3 processor, and i was just wondering if it would be possible to upgrade it to a better processor, and if it would actually be worth it for the performance of my laptop. My laptop model is atheros/ar5b125 and is made by ASUS I would appreciate any answers and also, if anyone could mention, if at all, what the highest processor my laptop could support would be?

Probably the best way to increase performance on a Laptop [not for gaming] is to swap out the HDD for an SSD. No you cannot just replace your laptop processor. Also Chrome OS i very light and very fast for general laptop use.

Hello, I recently bought a new laptop, ASUS K501UW And I want to replace the existing cpu, which is a intel core i7 6500U, 2cores, 4 threads to a intel core i7 3610QM, 4 cores, 8threads. I have checked the benchmarks and its not much of a difference so the laptop could handle it, but is it possible? I'm still confused about the motherboard and such.

Absolutely not. Even if you could swap out the CPU, which may or may not be possible on your laptop [I think not, the 6500U will probably be soldered onto your motherboard], they're chips from completely different generations. The 6500U is Skylake, the 3610QM is Ivybridge.

Is it not possible to unsolder the original cpu and solder back the other/ a cpu socket? If i have a a cpu socket from that generation it should be fine? Perhaps i could ask a professional to do it if it's to risky?

Well, my third generation intel i7 has 4 cores, which makes it more suitable for certain activities like gaming. The 6th generation i7 I have only has 2 cores, which is not enough.
