You should have a remove roles and features wizard to remove the role.
You can't remove roles through the add roles and features wizard.

I am currently having trouble removing 'Remote Desktop Services' from my Windows Server 2012 datacentre server. When installed, I installed it through the option of Remote Desktop Services Installation. With this when I go to remove the role, it says it is already uninstalled, although I can access all the launchers for Remote Desktop Services, including the licencing section is installed as well.

So how would I remove Remote Desktop Services from my Server.

Today I have the same question, eventually I found that you can select "remove Role and Features" from the server manager menu that allows you remove the role.

The link you provided says "Applies To: Windows Server 2008 R2".

The author of the post was using Windows 2012.

The page you provided has incorrect instructions for this thread.

This does NOT answer the question asked. Your "proposed solution" removes the licensing services, NOT Remote Desktop Services. Where is the downvote button? Seriously folks the repeated proposing of incorrect solutions in ruining this network.

    From Server Manager ...

Click on the Manage Menu in the upper right corner, then click remove Roles and Features, click next a couple times to get to Server Roles and unselect the roles you wish to remove.

This was the solution for me.

Initially I went through Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Turn Windows features on or off (been doing it for years).

"Turn Windows features on or off" should be renamed (at least in server 2012 where I was having the trouble) to "Turn Windows features on" as the RDS option was greyed out when following this path.

I went into Server Manager -> Manage -> Remove Roles and Features

From there I was easily able to remove RDS (restart required)

Hope this helps someone down the line.

Overview

The MS-ISAC observes specific malware variants consistently reaching The Top 10 Malware list. These specific malware variants have traits allowing them to be highly effective against State, Local, Tribal, and Territorial (SLTT) government networks, consistently infecting more systems than other types of malware. An examination of the characteristics of these malware variants revealed that they often abuse legitimate tools or parts of applications on a system or network. One such legitimate tool is Remote Desktop Protocol (RPD).
