Posted January 20 (edited) okay, small class d amp can run on battery Some say they can hear diffrence between different digital cable or speakercable, som say a linear power supplyis better than a switching power supply (hear a sonic difference ?) I have no idea if i can hear a diffrence between a power bank, a cheap power supply and the cable in a usb 3 port mabye with my audioquest jitterbug I guess the 5v power from a usb is to avoid a big power supply when using it with a tv or laptop, evenwhen it sounds better with a real power supply, power bank,it's still fare superior than the chip in the tv,laptop Edited January 20 by gasolinLink to commentShare on other sitesMore sharing options... I use a little battery pack to run my class t amp and my bantam stealth amp ( 10 AA batteries in a block ) it works very well..lasts two day or so before recharging, sounds a lot better than the supplied power supply in my opinion Link to commentShare on other sitesMore sharing options... tugaPosted January 20 tuga

I think that a battery should be adequate for powering a solid state DAC. I wouldn't use one for an amplifier, at least not a Class A or AB. . According to a piece on TNT Audio, Kevin Scott (Living Voice) uses a battery of batteries to power the system for critical listening:

Out of interest Tuga, with the new Tesla-style home banks, andas more folk go solar/hybrid or all off grid, do you think we will start getting cleaner feeds for our boxes? Link to commentShare on other sitesMore sharing options... tugaPosted January 20 tuga

From what I read, the grid is not prepared (an understatement) to respond to / cope with the needs set by the Government's targets. We may end up having to store our energy.

Im all in favour of home stores. For sure UK govt not prepared. But was looking at solar/battery LG/Samsung/Tesla propositions with grid isolated. Am just thinking aloud if, in that event, our domestic leccy feeds from lithium cells, gets cleanerfor hi fi etc.

Sharper filters - more ringing, less alias, less high-frequency roll-off Slower filters - less ringing, more alias, more high-frequency roll-off Super slow filter - almost filterless (quasi-NOS) Low dispersion filter - no idea . Edit: I have just realised that the name Sharp/Slow refers to the level of high-frequency rolll-off. Link to commentShare on other sitesMore sharing options... ChumpchopsPosted January 20 Chumpchops

F-4 sounds best in mykitchen system. The E30 is going into iLoud Micro Monitors which are quite bright in upper mid ranges. Its a big improvement on the FiiO Taishan, or the OEM SBT. On a Samsung TV>optical>E30>RCA >Audioengine A5 powered speakers, the sharper filters sounds better. A5s quite smooth and polite in character, so this makes sense. Thepseudo NOS F5 was least appealing in either setting. No measurements were taken. At this end of the market fun factor and VFM are the arbiters for me. E30 scores highly on both.

It seems like the F-4 produces the best measurements too.

Posted January 21 Replyto the video: I have the e30, it's very picky when it comes to with what you power it, simple laptop power or back of a pc is a no go, phone chargers improve sound but the soundstage is small, power bank opens up soundstage and gives more bass, this dac needs linear power supply to get 100% out of it. To me the mo sound noticeable better If i can finde something like this linear poiweer supply from a european store, would itbe superior to a usb port on a pc,battery and a cheappower supply https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000954602943.html?spm=a2g0o.search0302.0.0.67f92dc4PdwT5O&algo_pvid=42a09483-f5d4-4244-94aa-2fcd97d89b52&algo_expid=42a09483-f5d4-4244-94aa-2fcd97d89b52-10&btsid=0b0a557016111964658056902eb559&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_,searchweb201603_ https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32885413359.html?spm=a2g0o.search0302.0.0.67f92dc4PdwT5O&algo_pvid=42a09483-f5d4-4244-94aa-2fcd97d89b52&algo_expid=42a09483-f5d4-4244-94aa-2fcd97d89b52-20&btsid=0b0a557016111964658056902eb559&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_,searchweb201603_ Link to commentShare on other sitesMore sharing options... tugaPosted January 21 tuga
