2023 Volvo XC60 Recharge range

The Volvo XC60 is a medium-sized luxury SUV that boasts practicality, comfort and exceptional technology across all models. 

For the 2023 model year (MY23), the Volvo XC60 received new features and new model names. The line-up still consists of four variants, offering a choice of drivetrains suitable for various budgets, and all models boast all-wheel drive. 

Pricing starts from $72,990 for the entry-level XC60 Plus B5 up to $100,990 for the XC60 Recharge Ultimate T8 Plug-in Hybrid. Prices exclude on-road costs. 

2023 Volvo XC60 Plus B5

The range kicks off with the well-equipped Volvo XC60 Plus B5, which scores ample standard features. 

Interior features include a 9.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Google software and digital radio, wireless smartphone charging, a 10-speaker sound system, four-zone climate control with cabin filter, humidity sensor, power-adjustable front seats with memory, four-way electric lumbar support, power-folding second-row headrests, textile floor mats and rain-sensing wipers, to name a few. 

Additional features include LED headlights with cornering functionality, LED fog lights and tail-lights,19-inch alloy wheels and a power tailgate.

The XC60 packs ample standard safety equipment across its entire range. Seven airbags, autonomous emergency braking (forward and reverse), adaptive cruise control with stop and go functionality, lane-keep assist, lane centring assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, front-, side- and rear- parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, traffic sign recognition and hill descent control are standard across the range.

Essentially, for under $70k you’re getting a lot of bang for your buck because the base Plus B5 also offers convenience-focused equipment such as a power tailgate and wireless smartphone charging pad as standard. 

And safety highlights such as the 360-degree camera and adaptive cruise control add to everyday peace of mind. What’s more, the Volvo XC60 boasts a five-star ANCAP safety rating.

2023 Volvo XC60 Ultimate B5 Bright

Move up to the Ultimate B5 Bright and the price tag starts at $79,990 plus on-road costs. For that money, Volvo has added a bunch of extra features including a head-up display, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, crystal gear shifter, faux leather-wrapped instrument panel and an upgraded cabin air filter. 

Both B5 models are powered ​​a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine developing 183kW and 350Nm, paired to an eight-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive, plus a claimed fuel use of 6.9 litres per 100km in mixed driving conditions.

That’s mated with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, which utilises an 'integrated starter-generator' to improve fuel efficiency and performance under acceleration. 

2023 Volvo XC60 Ultimate B6 Dark

Next in line is the XC60 Ultimate B6 Dark which adds 21-inch alloy wheels along with a sports exterior body kit. You can choose between Moritz leather and a nappa leather/textile combination for no cost or pay extra for full nappa leather with seat ventilation (cooling). Pricing for this model begins at $85,990 plus on road costs. 

The heavy lifting is handled by an electric supercharger, paired with the 2.0-litre mild-hybrid engine. This produces even more get up and go, capable of 220kW and 420Nm, and an 8.0L/100km combined cycle fuel economy claim.

2023 Volvo XC60 Recharge Ultimate T8 PHEV

The top of the line is the Recharge Ultimate T8 Plug-in Hybrid. A full suite of equipment is packed into this specification, including a 15-speaker, 1460-watt Bowers and Wilkins premium sound system, dual-zone climate control, and a panoramic sunroof. The price starts at $100,990.

The flagship plug-in hybrid pairs a 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder engine with an electric motor and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The petrol engine powers the front wheels delivering 233kW/400Nm, while the electric motor at the rear delivers 107kW/309Nm. An 18.8kWh battery powers the electric motor.

Depending on the model, buyers can option a climate package for their XC60, which offers heating for front seats and steering wheel. There’s also a long list of further options available, including massaging front seats and a choice of sound systems. 

There are nine paint colours to choose from with Black Stone a no-cost option across the range. 

The XC60 contains ample boot space with 505L of cargo storage, while its towing capacity is rated at 2400kg braked (or 2250kg for the Recharge Ultimate) and 750kg unbraked. 

Sustainability is at the forefront of what Volvo is doing, and with a dedication to a climate-neutral future, three models of the range are fitted with mild hybrid systems, with the range-topper scoring a plug-in hybrid function. A fully-electric driveline is offered in the brand’s smaller SUV – the XC40.
