  • The Flash's Gideon May Play a Role in Crisis on Infinite Earths Storyline

The Flash showrunner Eric Wallace teased Gideon may have a role to play in 'Crisis on Infinite Earths,' this year's Arrowverse crossover.

The Flash's Gideon may have a role to play in "Crisis on Infinite Earths," the upcoming five-show crossover between The CW's DCTV series.

Asked if Barry can learn more about "Crisis" from the AI, showrunner Eric Wallace told TV Insider, "You might get that answer in our season premiere." While this response isn't exactly a confirmation, it heavily implies that the Scarlet Speedster will do just that in the Season 6 premiere.

In the series, Eobard Thawne, aka Reverse-Flash, brought Gideon back in time with him. Since Gideon hails from the future, she is knowledgeable of some events that Team Flash has yet to experience for themselves. She also keeps track of changes in the timeline. Indeed, in the Season 5 finale, she tracked a "time flux" that moved "Crisis" up from April 24, 2024 to 2019.

It is unclear what Gideon knows about "Crisis," but Season 5 indicated she existed during the event. Last season, Barry and Iris' daughter Nora West-Allen watched a video he recorded before he disappeared. Barry left the video for his daughter with Gideon without any knowledge she visited him in the past, which suggests he used the AI during the unaltered "Crisis" timeline. As such, she may have some valuable information for Team Flash in Season 6.

Returning Tuesday, October 8 at 8 pm on The CW, The Flash stars Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Carlos Valdes, Danielle Panabaker, Tom Cavanagh, Jesse L. Martin, Danielle Nicolet and Hartley Sawyer.

The Flash Confirms Crisis on Infinite Earths Newspaper Release Date

The latest episode of The Flash revealed when Iris West-Allen's infamous 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' issue of The Central City Citizen will release.

April 24 2024 Flash

SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for "The Last Temptation of Barry Allen, Pt. 1," the latest episode of The FlashSeason 6.

The Flash Season 1 revealed Barry Allen would disappear in a "Crisis" all the way back in the series premiere. The show is making good on that promise in Season 6, and now we know exactly when that famous issue of The Central City Citizen will release.

In "The Last Temptation of Barry Allen, Pt. 1," the latest episode, Barry's wife and Central City Citizen founder Iris West-Allen finally set about writing her career-defining piece. She avoided writing it for most of the episode, but her intern Allegra Garcia finally encouraged her to finish it: "I don't know how you're going to bring yourself to write this article. I just know you're never going to forgive yourself if you don't." In doing so, she revealed the issue's release date: Dec. 11.

Of course, this date coincides with "Crisis on Infinite Earths: Part 3," The Flash's installment of the upcoming Arrowverse crossover. This episode will air on Dec. 10, which is the day Barry is predicted to disappear. This means Iris will release this newspaper issue the next day.

In The Flash Season 5 finale, Team Flash accidentally created a new timeline when they destroyed Cicada's dagger. This caused the date of "Crisis on Infinite Earths" to change. The stinger saw the A.I. Gideon suddenly waking up of her own accord. "Incoming time flux," she announced, lighting up. She projected an image of the infamous "Flash Missing Vanishes in Crisis" newspaper, which began to change. The date -- April 24, 2024 -- began to tick backwards and stopped at 2019, which aligns the in-universe timeline with The CW's Arrowverse crossover plans. However, the specific date of Barry's disappearance wasn't revealed -- until now.

Airing Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on The CW, The Flash stars Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Carlos Valdes, Danielle Panabaker, Tom Cavanagh, Jesse L. Martin, Danielle Nicolet and Hartley Sawyer.
