This set of the Dr. Dennis Gross Advanced Retinol + Ferulic acid was kindly gifted to me by a friend in a product exchange. I’ve been using them quite consistently since the beginning of the year. Dr. Dennis Gross is probably most famous for their Alpha Beta peels – which hopefully I’ll do a review on too in the near future. Their Advance Retinol + Ferulic line is described to be powered by their phyto-retinol blend that consists of encapsulated retinol, bakuchiol, rambutan and ferulic acid. Which in their own clinical studies has shown to smooth out wrinkled, even out skin tone and texture, as well as reduce blemishes. Their formulation is said to pack some punch without the irritation, so all ages and most skin types can reap the benefits.

Tripple Correction Eye Serum

This eye serum is said to firm skin, boost hydration, and smooth out the look of fine lines and wrinkles. It promises retinol results without irritation. It quickly absorbs and very dry skin types might want to layer a more hydrating eye cream on top. Or patting some excess face cream works too. Aside from encapsulated retinol and ferulic acid, it contains bakuchiol, Q10, caffeine, salicylic and glycolic acid, licorice root extract, peptides… And a bunch of hydrating-and-good-for-you-ingredients.

I’ve been using the advanced retinol + ferulic acid triple correction eye serum for a couple of months now and I feel like a broken record saying I’m probably too young to review these types of products. I personally have not seen any improvements using it just like I did with the Verso super eye cream. And I do have wrinkles around my eye area – mostly dynamic ones. No brightening, no firmness, no smoothness. Or at least none I can see or feel with my naked eye that my regular hydrating eye cream doesn’t do.

For an eye cream worth €100, I was… well… Expecting more. I did try to get my boyfriend who’s soon in his 40’s to use it. But he’s not been consistent enough to say anything about his results. As a regular eye cream, I would’ve preferred it to be more hydrating. This is a gel so it absorbs fast. It does make a good eye primer, but I personally am team cream on this one.

It’s designed to be used in the morning, but before I realized this I was applying it both day and night, and have not felt any discomfort. But if you have very sensitive skin around your eye area, like my friend, then this might still flare up some issues. Overall I’m a bit disappointed but I’m well aware that this product might be doing stuff on a cellular level that isn’t visible in the current quality of my skin. So I’m not too quick to judge it as a waste of money. Clearly, people find it to do magic based on reviews.

Texture Renewal Serum

Compared to the eye cream in the same line, this feels like it is packing some punch! It has sort of the same ingredient profile but with some added exfoliating properties of lactic and mandelic acid. Its benefits include evening out skin tone and texture, reducing and preventing fine lines, boosting radiance, and helping clear blemishes and balance oiliness. From the description alone, it’s a good serum for adult acne sufferers wanting some anti-aging benefits.

With the advanced retinol + ferulic acid texture renewal serum, I really feel like I fit the type and have also seen some results. It’s said to be used both AM and PM, but for my skin that’s a little too much, I feel. I haven’t even used it daily, more like every other day like I do with other retinol products. And although it may say to be used in the mornings, I’ve kept it to only evening use as the finish is a bit sticky.

It says to apply 8-10 drops, which is about one pipette and sounds absurdly much(!)… But it has lasted me a long time even though both I and my boyfriend use it consistently about every other day! During the time of use, I haven’t stopped my additional exfoliation game which is about once a week. And in hindsight, this was a lil’ too much for my skin. If you are using this then you don’t really need an extra chemical exfoliant. Better to keep things simple. Trust me. Otherwise, you’ll end up having to go back to basics.

I can’t say if it diminishes wrinkles, but I feel like it checks all the other promises. For the price, I feel like you are getting what you pay for. My skin feels smoother, more even, and glowing after and with continued use. Always applied a no-fuss moisturizer on top. The only issue I’d say is the “hotdog”-scent… But I feel like the results are worth it and it gets on the list of products I can see myself repurchasing and definitely recommend!
