HP LaserJet 1020 driver for macOS Monterey
Show medon78 • Contributing Member • Posts: 696 How to trick HP printer drivers installer in MacOS Monterey Oct 29, 2021 Hey there, for my HP Printer (M128 MFP series) I used this driver package from the Apple support site: This worked well under MacOS 11 / Big Sur, enabling the scanning functionality of my printer. Here is my problem: I did a fresh / clean install of MacOS 12 / Monterey on my M1 MBA. Unfortunately, now the HP drivers package refuses to install: Is there any way to override the "official" MacOS version number it is reporting to apps? searched around a little to no avail. Any help greatly appreciated! This HP support page says that Apple no longer provides print drivers through Apple Software Update (not sure about drivers on Apple Support Web pages), and has a link to HP's driver site. https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04510394 Tom_N • Forum Pro • Posts: 20,695 Re: How to trick HP printer drivers installer in MacOS Monterey In reply to Tom_N • Oct 29, 2021 The latest macOS driver at the HP site, for your printer, is for Mojave. I don't know if it will install or work on Monterey – maybe it will. https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-laserjet-pro-mfp-m128-series/5396667 OP medon78 • Contributing Member • Posts: 696 Re: How to trick HP printer drivers installer in MacOS Monterey In reply to Tom_N • Oct 29, 2021 Thanks for the hint. I tried the HP drivers from their site, but the installer hangs. That's why I was glad to use the Apple drivers set, which would probably work under Monterey as well, but fails to install now with version 12.0.1. Although some refer to even that as a "clean install" vs manually copying and downloading and reinstalling apps. Or try this hack, which is for some HP printers anyway, and seems to be perhaps the workaround that might get them installed: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/monterrey-and-hp-printers.2319676/ selected answer This post was selected as the answer by the original poster. Hi Medon! I had the same issue before, and a colleague told me to try this site for software and drivers, where I luckily found one for my HP printer too. Give it a try if you can find one that will work for your HP printer. Re: How to trick HP printer drivers installer in MacOS Monterey In reply to medon78 • 9 months ago 1. Download and install Pacifist: https://www.charlessoft.com/ 2. Download HP Drivers pack: https://support.apple.com/kb/dl1888 = will take a while... 3. Mount (double click) the downloaded dmg file. 4. Open Pacifist...(free to use but you need to wait 15 sec if you do not pay for the software). 5. Choose "Open Package" and navigate in Finder to "HP_PrinterSupportManual" and open the file "HewlettPackardPrinterDrivers.pkg" 6. Highlight (= click once) the row "HewlettPackardPrinterDrivers Contents". 7. At the top of that window choose Install. 8. And the rest should be as easy to follow! 9, Finally add the printer with the normal procedure.
