Windows 11 multiple desktops Reddit

What the title says: how exactly will Windows 11 handle virtual desktops on multiple monitors?

Currently on my Windows 10, each monitor gets its own set of N virtual desktops, with a single "current desktop" view that causes each monitor to go to the desktop with a given index from its corresponding set when the desktops are switched.

But I see potential for improvement here by offering the user much more control, such as:

The option to have the monitors function like side by side views to a single set of virtual desktops.

The ability for each monitor to navigate independently through its set of virtual desktops.

The ability to move desktops from one monitor's set to the others'.

Why is it still not possible to have a different set of icons either in the task bar or on the desktop itself?

I would really like to seperate my work from my personal space. That means that I want different desktop icons, different background [now possible], different task bar management altogether.

Hi all,

I'm currently trying to have differing taskbars in altering desktops within Windows 11. For example, youtube and Netflix on my personal desktop and Microsoft and teams on my work desktop.

Is this possible or does this feature simply not exist?

Thanks :]

W11 Virtual Desktops should have different shortcuts and pinned icons from windows

I've tried to take a look around and see if anyone has seen a fix to this. Can't seem to find much but maybe my search skills are poor. When using multiple desktops, is there a way to open new instances of Adobe Acrobat in the current desktop you're in?

For example, I'm finding that if I open adobe PDFs for my current desktop [desktop 2] it will shoot me to the most recent desktop that currently has a PDF document open [desktop 1] and open it in there.

Has anyone encountered this and found a solution?

I had hoped that Microsoft would have improved the functionality of virtual desktops in Windows 11. But it looks much the same as Windows 10.

I'd like to create a separate desktop for personal and work use, so that I can keep applications and data separate. This doesn't look possible in Windows 11.

So, what is the point of virtual desktops as they currently work?

It seems that Win 11 makes multiple desktops even easier to access. Am I missing the boat? Does the average user need multiple desktops? Can you provide an example of how/why this feature is used?

Thank you!

Lawrence

Windows 11 has really got me into trying multiple desktops. Loving the experience so far from Windows11

So I updated and discovered multiple desktops. I decided to try it out thinking it might help me be a little more organized until I realized you can't customize the shortcuts. I kind of thought that would be the whole point of it. To have customized desktops.. So what exactly is it for?
